this book has a very intriguing premise, but unfortunately i felt the authors execution of it in novel form left a lot to be desired

it is about the near future when genetic engineering has developed a way to make pseudo-human lifeforms for kind of slave labor--menial jobs and as founts for organ donation and so on. two of the advanced prototypes escape the growing lab; their problem is that their programmer added too many quirks and real personality facets for their or the rest of society's safety. it is a very intriguing idea, but the author doesnt delve as far into the philosophical, societal and moral implications of the situations of the tale. i dont recommend this book, but i wouldnt tell anyone NOT to read it--like i say, the premise is very thought provoking

Sounds like the sort of thing that Philip K Dick excelled at.

yes, a master like dick probably would have explored more of the implications of the experiment, not to mention the emotions of the creators and the creations. it really left me cold. lots of holes in the story and a very jumbled execution throughout. the poor quality of the execution of the novel makes me shake my head and wonder who this guy is sleeping with to be able to publish such a mess. good ideas, just very wanting and incomplete Sad
